Thanks Yvette, yes it is quite diverse but I absolutely love each element of my work, it keeps my world fresh and interesting. I hate being bored!
At the moment it is definitely my shopping tours, there is a lot to coordinate behind the scenes and the research is awful, haha!
With over 20K Instagram followers, when did you create your profile and go live on Instagram?
I have been on Instagram approximately 4 years now, I just started it as a bit of fun, my kids were all on it and I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I became addicted very quickly when I found my tribe and my love for food styling, interiors and organising reached a whole new level. It's a fabulous platform for showcasing what you do and the people I have met, near and far is just so special.
Was your Sara Shanahan Lifestyle business planned, or did it naturally evolve? Did you actively seek out having a business, or did the business find you?
I already had my organising/decluttering business but my styling and shopping tours business definitely came about because of Instagram. I found that I was enjoying all three aspects even more and I'm very grateful for the opportunities I have had and the work that has come from it. It all just grew organically on Instagram, people can see if you are authentic or not and I just try to be myself and share what I do most days.
Did you always love interiors? How would you describe your style?
I always loved the Scandi style, organised and clutter free. My love for interiors grew when I was home having babies wanting to make my house a home and a representation of who I am.
How does your work impact your home?
I'm lucky that I can do a lot of my work from home and if I have to be out and about, my kids are all older now so I don't have the school pick up schedule which is fabulous. I couldn't do what I do now 5-10 years ago.
What’s your favourite colour?
So hard! White, black, grey, OK grey!
What’s your go to gift?
A gorgeous Scandi homewares piece, something simple that will suit most tastes. A gorgeous candle is always a winner too.
What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?
Im most proud of having the courage to step completely out of my comfort zone and start my own business. Scary, but I'm so glad I did, the last 5 years have been so much fun!
